25 March
Bay Islands ITU Pan-American Cup
Roatan, Honduras
This is an ITU Continental Cup race, which means it is draft legal and a high
finish will garner some small amount ITU ranking points. (High finishes in World
Cup races yield far more of ITU ranking points).
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Roughly 35k into the 40k ride, Margie had an ugly wreck descending
a steep hill, bent her front rim and was unable to finish. Fortunately,
she left Honduras with nothing worse than some nasty road rash and a
sore knee; she and her Elite Joule Pro will be healed and ready for St.
Anthony's. |
30 April
St. Anthony’s Triathlon
St. Petersburg FL
One of the biggest triathlons in the nation, this is a traditional format, non-draft
legal race, with a very high quality pro field. It will be a nice opportunity
for Margie to see how she stacks up with the big girls on a flat, fast course
without the draft.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie finished 11th overall (2:05:25). It was a very valuable experience
to race in such a strong pro field, and great to get back in the saddle
after the crash in Honduras. |
14 May
Honolulu ITU Continental Cup
Honolulu, Hawaii
In this first race of the “Haul to the Great Wall” series,
Margie hopes to pick up ITU ranking points.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie had a strong showing in Honolulu, finishing sixth in her first ITU
points race and learning many valuable lessons about the world of draft-legal
racing. She looks forward to applying some of her new knowledge at the
US Pro National Championship next month. |
21 May
Columbia Triathlon
Columbia MD
This non draft-legal race with its hilly bike and run courses suits Margie’s
strengths. Columbia was her first triathlon ever and has been a favorite
ever since.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Bolstered by local support and her love of the hills, Margie won in commanding
fashion, beating the next pro by nearly eight minutes, and bringing home
the bike and run prems. Her 2:10:17 marked a personal best for the course. |
June 4, 2006
ITU Madrid World Cup
Madrid, Spain
Just a few weeks before the European Championships,
this World Cup will be loaded with talented Euros. It will present an 8-loop
bike course with a challenging climb, and a flat 4-loop run.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie endured just about every mishap
possible en route to Spain but arrived in one piece, determined to enjoy
her first World Cup and her solo trip. Although she rode all 8 downhills
overly cautiously (still haunted by the memory of her Honduras wreck), she
finished with a strong run, taking 36th overall in the biggest World Cup
event ever (70+ on the start list) and gained valuable experience. |
24 June
Long Beach ITU Continental Cup
Long Beach CA.
As the US Pro National Championship, this draft-legal race will be Margie’s
best chance for a direct comparison with her greatest American competition. It
is one of the “Haul to the Great Wall” series races.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Finishing a solid 11th overall (9th American) with the sixth fastest run
split, Margie adds this race to her list of experience-gleaning efforts--another
step toward bigger and better things. |
9 July
ITU Edmonton Triathlon World Cup in
Edmonton, Canada
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie had a great time in Edmonton, enjoying the friendly Canadian hospitality
and improving her world ranking considerably with a 21st place finish.
Bolstered by one of her strongest swims ever, Margie had great fun on the
bike (and the fastest split of the day) bridging packs, but suffered severe
abdominal cramps on the run. With plans to modify her race-day nutrition, she
looks forward to a more pleasant run next time. |
23 July
Cornerbrook ITU World Cup
Cornerbrook,
Canada
Margie hopes to earn a spot among the Americans in this race, which has a reputation
for stunning beauty and challenging hills.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie enjoyed the hills and the beautiful views while racing in Corner
Brook, Newfoundland, relieved that her bike finally arrived on race morning.
While her swim and T1 were not exceptional, Margie had a strong (albeit
solo) ride and run and finished 22nd. |
5 Aug
ITU Bridgeport Pan American
Cup
Bridgeport, CT
Margie hopes to
pick up more ITU ranking points in this draft-legal race, which is known
to be flat and fast.
Back to Schedule
|
RESULTS
Margie enjoyed her first podium finish on the ITU circuit in this flat,
fast Continental Cup race, finishing third overall. She implemented an
aggressive race plan to ride all out until she caught the front pack (after
exiting the swim a minute down) and enjoyed the fruits of her labor for
the last 3 laps of the bike course and throughout the run.

of 1:21:48. Competing against world- renowned Ironman athlete Desiree

3 Sept
ITU Boston Pan American Cup
Boston, Massachusetts
Margie looks forward to
this fourth of five "Haul to the Great Wall" races.
Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Unfortunately, the race in Boston was cancelled due to rain. |
17 Sept
ITU West Chester Pan American Cup
Margie hopes to
finish out the "Haul to the Great Wall" series with a high
finish in this
hilly, scenic race.
Back to Schedule
|
RESULTS
Margie had a great race in West Chester with a very strong bike leg (catching
all but three on the bike after a two-minute deficit coming out of the
water) and a solid run. With an exciting kick to the finish, she took fourth
place in this final Haul to the Great Wall series race. |
5 November
ITU Cancun World Cup
Margie will spend a few days in the Mexican sun with family before racing
in this penultimate 2006 World Cup.

Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Margie and the other eighty-plus entrants battled the thunderstorms and
pouring rain but managed to come out unscathed. It was difficult to execute
her aggressive race plan on the bike in the rain, and she finished a
disappointing 42nd, but Margie looks to rally on in New Zealand next week. |
11 November
ITU New Plymouth World Cup
New Plymouth, New Zealand
Margie makes her first trip to New Zealand for the final World Cup of
the year, hoping to gain valuable points toward next year's ranking.

Back to Schedule |
RESULTS
Rallying herself back into the race with a very aggressive bike leg (after
getting pummeled by waves, disoriented, and dropped in a very rough swim),
Margie closed out her rookie season with a 26th place finish in this talent
stacked field. Despite her short stay in New Plymouth, she had a chance
to see some breathtaking sights and meet some wonderful people and hopes
to return in 2008. |
